All Jim Crumley wanted to do
was hunt more effectively.
Unfortunately, the camo
patterns available to him in the early 1970s were not concealing him from
his quarry the way he wanted. So the only solution Jim could come up with
was to make his own camo.
He started by hand drawing
tree bark patterns on coveralls. His friends thought he was crazy . . .
until Jim started coming back from the woods with bigger and better game.
Jim soon realized that his
new camo was effective--so effective that he knew hunters everywhere would
want to use it. So he took out a $24,000 loan, cleared out his savings,
and with bull dog tenacity, struggled and strained to create Jim Crumley's
C.A.M.O. Enterprises.
Over the years, Crumley has
gone from a single man with a revolutionary idea to founding a company
that built the camo industry and today supplies patterns for hunters all
over the world.
This is the story of Jim
Crumley, the man who invented camo. |
